Greeeeetings true believers! I know, what a long time to have gone without posting on my flashy wee blog, but a multitude of events including exams, a marathon and a move home have meant I’ve had little or no time at all for internet duties! Which, honestly is pretty awesome. There’s nothing better than spending time outdoors on my home island, and I had a blast running the marathon so I’m certainly going to make the drive to do more outdoorsy stuff (in fact, keep an eye out here for some updates and what not)! Anyway, let’s get to the artwork! Again, not exactly a months worth of work, but plenty to keep you entertained. Hopefully I’ll be getting back on the drawing horse ASAP (or once the weather gets worse!)
HEY BABES welcome back to the Sunday Night Sketchbook! Another pretty big week of sketching and drawing, including the finished version of a piece I’ve been working on for some time! So we’ll cut to the chase and get into the drawings- enjoy!
Well, trying at least. Look, grammar and spelling are my two pet hates in the world- I try to get things down on paper so fast with my imagination racing at a mile a minute that it leaves ample time to see if everything actually reads well. But I love writing, and I’ve always loved writing stories, scripts, poems or whatever takes my fancy. I’ve been working on a new idea for quite some time now, spending a lot of time both planning it (something I’m also notoriously bad at) and creating the world and setting that has both continuity and life outside of the story.
Pictured: Planning. Or Alternatively; evidence of an insane man.
So, what I figure is posting the first part of my story here, as well as the rest of the story as I write it. It’s only a first draft, but I figure I’ll update it as I go on my blog so that I can keep track of it better myself. Since the story is presented a bit like a diary, I figure it works on the blog quite well. I don’t want to let on anything about the wider plot, but what I’m presenting is essentially the character of Jamie, his journey and an accompanying history of an Island. Give me feedback! I want to know what I’m doing wrong!
Buckle up Bagginses! We have a Sketchbook so bursting full of drawings, I literally do no know how to format it! I’ve been making a series of Tumblr posts in which I answer questions submitted by the lovely folks over there. The questions have been silly answers full of gifs and other nonsense, and you can see parts one, two, three and four in their original glory here! Either way, let’s get to it- enjoy!
Why is BTC called Jarool?
Hello! Welcome back to this weeks edition of “Stuff I gone done and drawn” (or Sunday Night Sketchbook to you fancy folks). Brilliantly, I actually have an excuse for being late this week! My computer has been in pieces while I give everything a well overdue clean, so apologies for this being a day over the deadline! This week encompasses a few doodles and stuff from the week of the 14th as well, however since I didn’t have much to show for it that week, between me and you, we’ll consider all this done from the past seven days.
Anyway, enough deceit enjoy!
GuacaZippo! A little thumbnail art of my roboty character for my new Guacamelee series!
Minor Game of Thrones & Current Mindcrack UHC spoilers to follow!
What’s that? Drawings? Actual real life drawings?! Yes! Welcome back to Sunday Night Sketchbook, and boy do we have SOME art for you! Pretty proud of this week’s doodles, so we’ll cut straight to the chace- the UHC filled, Game of thrones packed chase! Enjoy!
Etho: PVP master?
“Some Shenanigans of Thrones“. Some Game of Thrones artwork I’m working on. More here!
And uuuuh… well i don’t know where this came from.
Light A Game of Thrones Spoilers ahead!
So I’ve started a a digital piece that’s probably my most ambitious and largest artwork yet. Drawn on 630x890mm canvas, I hope to include as many of the Game of Thrones characters, locations and references as possible. I’m pretty pleased with the progress so far, but I still have a while to go with it. This is probably about 3/4 hours of work so far.
‘ol fatty Robert Baratheon is my favourite.
I’m trying to put as much detail into the castles and locations as possible, and stuff it with injokes and references from the books (without spoiling too much)
King’s Landing. Complete with Fleabottom and the start of Stannis’s attack on the walls!
That tower is basically just the journey of bran stark. Plus Maester Luwin’s sleeves with flying scrolls!
Either way, I still have a loooooong way to go. However, once I finish it’s going to my my favourite piece by far. I’ll update you guys as I go!
Lucky I don’t have to worry about ink this time.
Hey hey! Figure I’ll stick up a few pictures from my past few years, just as a way to show off the development of my artwork and so I can keep track of them myself! Just nitpicking certain pieces I’ve done, both freehand and computer work. I’ll try and post them now and then when I have some spare time!
Without much further ado, let’s gooooooo!
“Alexis”. The last thing big A2 piece I’ve done. I made it for the birthday of my cousin back in 2012 (albeit 3-4 months late!) and it’s a combination of a famous Mucha girl and some of my own designs. Pretty proud of it- I just wish I had a better picture of it!
“Runnyunder Jazz Festival”. This was the very first artwork I ever did in photoshop! It’s from around 2009/10 when I finally got access to Photoshop on my high school computer. As you can see, I’ve hardly improved!
“Green Godzilla”. A pen and ink piece on A4 paper that I actually sold on Etsy back in 2009/10. I think it’s somewhere in America now. If someone ever comes across it, tell me!
Untitled sketch. This, along with the “Godzilla” sketch were part of a big series of “City Spaces” I drew, but many of them I forgot to take photos of/gave away. I need to track them down! Some of my favourite work. I really want to return to the idea later.
I don’t even really know what this was for. My dream house, maybe?
“Nothing in particular”. The first logo I ever did with my sketchpad back in 2011. Turned out pretty well. It was for a podcast that I made (and still have… unreleased!)
And a drawing of a horse. Pretty sure I traced/stole the idea from somewhere. The shading is all me though!
Hellllooooo ladies and gentlemen! Sunday Night Sketchbook! However, as usual, I’ve been doing a lot of off-page drawings and I figure I wont try and badly photograph them and stick up here (however you might see some photos of them (and other stuff) at my instagram page!) until they’re something more substantial. However! Until then- he’s ONE drawing! Pitiful I know, but I am pretty proud of it. I’ve been trying to better draw body shapes, however I was having trouble drawing a head of any kind, until I saw someone post on tumblr “Can someone draw kurtjmac as a girl” or something. So I figured, hey! I’ll just stick a box and her head and call it done. It just so happens Kurtjmac has the head of the 10th Doctor, so it might grab dome DW fans as well! I’m pretty pleased with the outcome.
Next task- learn how to draw feet!
Welcome backa to the sketchbook cracka! Yes yes yes I realise my Sunday night Sketchbooks have been a long time delayed even by MY standards, however there’s a plain and simple reason behind all this- I simply wasn’t drawing enough! I’ve been occupied with other pursuits and left the sketching to the wayside. For that reason, I decided to upload everything so far (which isn’t much!) into one big sketchbook for the middle of March. Either way, enjoy!
Editors note: I often have people ask me where The Sunday Night Sketchbook is, or how I can call it “Sunday Night” when more often than not it’s uploaded during the weekdays, however the answer is pretty simple- because I upload things when I want! These posts are a record for MYSELF, they aren’t intended as some magazine article that’s to be uploaded on a certain date with expected content for an audience- this is just a way for me to track where and when I’ve done drawings so that I can look back later. So in the future, if something doesn’t go up on Sunday, or Monday… or Tuesday, it’s probably not because I’ve forgotten, it’s more likely that I simply have better things to do!
Anyway, to the pictures!
My splash screen for the UHC 100 livestream I hosted. The stream was a failure, but the art wasn’t!
“Kapslock Gaming” What could this be? (;
Odd “I need to draw me twerking” On it.
Finally, these are the “Raasay mug” design I’m making for my sisters jewelry business on the island I’m from. Thought I’d post the development of ideas. Hopefully be adding them to the spreadshirt store soon!
